Year of New Beer: Cherry Flanders Red, Hi-Wire Brewing (Asheville)

The expected cherries are joined by lime, green apple, and a bit of red wine vinegar on the nose. Warmth allows it to open up to some oak and cork. On the tongue, this rips the taste buds with a sharp, fruity acidity. Cherry and a powerful citrus bite, given added complexity as notes of leather, oak, and red wine develop. Hangs on to a Warhead candy punch through the finish. Pretty nice brew, but it packs a pucker that's not for the faint of heart. Picked up for a song on BLB's clearance shelf.
