Year of New Beer: 2019 Fest of Ales Edition

While the FOA may have taken a brief sabbatical in 2018, it returned with a vengeance this year, offering up a VIP option with stellar food pairings, and a local/regional beer selection that will be hard to top. Local samples included several old favorites such as Ethereal's Baba Yaga, West 6th Flanders Red, Blue Stallion's Rum Barrel Tropical Gose, and of course, Rock House's Key Lime Pie (along with a few others). For my new beers, I went with one local, one national. Up first was Country Boy Brewing's latest New England IPA, Prime Directive. Loads of citrus and tropical fruits on the nose, translating to a slightly sweet, juicy mouthfeel. Excellent. I'm a sucker for goses, so secondly, I opted for the Cigar City (Florida) Margarita Gose. Plenty of lemon-lime tartness balanced by just the right amount of salinity. Fantastic summer beer. If you missed out tonight, all I can say is clear your calendar for next year. An outstanding festival.
