Year of New Beer: Hop Tart, Mirror Twin Brewing Co (Lexington)

Day 2 of the MT 3rd Anniversary party tomorrow is, in a word...LOADED. Live music from Trippin Roots, Wade Boggs Oktoberfest can release, three bottled versions of Chernobly (along with several taproom-only variants), and cans of this tasty brew. Bright citrus opens the nose as orange bursts forth, joined quickly by hints of peach, apricot, and lime. The guava is subtle, but does add a touch of sweetness ahead of a light, slightly earthy funk. On the tongue, the fruits play out in Sweetart mode, sour initially, but having an underlying sweetness that accompanies more traditional NEIPAs. The guava brings a tropical note along the mid-palate. Citrus pith provides a mild bitterness, but it ultimately finishes with a TANG-like, juicy punch. This will be the perfect answer for the ridiculous, first-week-of-October 95° days we are about to experience. Another job well done by the folks at Mirror Twin. Tomorrow is going to be fun.
