Year of New Beer: Brewer's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Peruvian Morning, Central Waters Brewing Co (WI)

Another excellent beer that's been around for a while, that I've somehow managed to miss. The nose is filled with freshly brewed coffee, hints of caramel and oak, light vanilla, and a subdued bourbon. On the tongue, the bittersweet chocolate is joined by charred toast and chicory, giving a slightly woody, nutty layer. The bourbon is very subtle, offering up suggestions of toffee, vanilla, and oak. This is much more about the coffee, and much less about the barrel as you head toward the finish. Really lets the 'Imperial Stout' part of the beer shine. Very enjoyable.
