Year of New Beer: Desserts and Beer pairing at Rock House

The flight included a couple (that I'm sure of) new beers for me. First up was Turn to Stone (middle), a New England IPA. Not overly hazy, but it did have a nice, juicy citrus that worked really well with a delicious cranberry macaron. The macaron may be the best I've ever tasted, balancing a slightly tart, jammy cranberry against a delicately sweet cookie. Second was Klaatu Barada Nikto, a Mexican chocolate stout. Honestly, I wouldn't have picked out the pumpkin in this, but the pepper aspect provided a spicy kick, balanced with a faint maple sweetness. Perfectly paired with a sinfully rich brownie. Even though I've tasted it before, the Ginger Shandy (lower left) deserves a special mention as it hit a different level of excellent alongside the ginger molasses cookie. The Almond Joy brownie (upper right) was incredible, a natural fit with Coconut Monolith. I may or may not have purchased a few macarons, brownies, and ginger cookies to enjoy later. Great beers and outstanding sweets!
