Year of New Beer: Black Tuesday, The Bruery (CA)

How do you celebrate a completely unexpected UK trip to the Final Four? By sampling a completely unexpected whale of a beer. Not enough words at my disposal to describe it. The nose is loaded with chocolate, coffee, bourbon-soaked oak, and dark fruits that leave you wondering if you are instead drinking an after dinner liqueur. The flavors don't disappoint, as a molasses sweetness is joined by creamy vanilla and dark chocolate. The dark fruit presence is masterful, while the bourbon, undoubtedly present, is remarkably subdued for such a big beer. This is an 18.9% stunner, and quite simply one of the finest beers I've had the pleasure of tasting. Just wish I had staged a better photo, but hey, there was a game on. Many thanks toMichael Jones for sharing this stellar beverage.
