Year of New Beer: Double Shot Edition

On the left is Barreled Dark Cherry Chocolate Stout, Country Boy Brewing (Georgetown, KY). Starting with the base for Nate's Coffee, without the coffee, this one features a subtle cherry note atop charred malts and semi-sweet chocolate. Comes off very much like a cherry cordial, managing to stay far away from the cough-syrupy effect that so many cherry beers fall victim to. On the right is Bruleed Grapefruit Hill, Southern Grist Brewing Co (Nashville). While the label may say grapefruit, this presents to me as almost straight up Dreamsicle as the Turbinado sugar and vanilla acts to give a slightly sweet, creamy note to the grapefruit puree. Very tasty.
