Year of New Beer: Big Tick Energy, Rock House Brewing (Lexington)

Going back to the Rock House well tonight with this impressive beer. Nose is loaded with coffee, chocolate, cinnamon, and vanilla. Coffee really stands out with warmth, joined by some subtle rum spices. On the tongue, the cinnamon steps up a bit more, blending nicely with the roast of the coffee bean. Very solid, slightly bitter chocolate lingers throughout, softened somewhat by the lactose and vanilla. The rum barrel offers up a nice combination of caramel, spice, and oak, but it never overpowers. This beer, in my opinion, is just a slightly thicker body and a touch of carbonation away from being in the upper echelon of local barrel aged stouts. Excellent. Can't wait for it to be brewed again.
