Year of New Beer: Bourbon Barrel Brownie, West 6th Brewing Co (Lexington)

I've never poured bourbon over a freshly baked brownie, but I think it would come out pretty close to this. Straight up brownie batter on the nose, rich and decadent against the the caramel and oak notes of the bourbon. A slightly bitter cocoa powder hits the taste buds initially, but it settles quickly into a velvety sweet brownie with hints of chocolate syrup. Lightly toasted malts and subtle oak along the middle, with a bourbon note that adds a mild heat alongside hints of vanilla. This is ridiculously good, and way too easy to drink for over 10%. Well done.
