Year of New Beer: Torn Paper Leaves (Brazilian Oak), Haw River Farmhouse Ales (NC)

Really interesting nose here...plenty of yeast in a freshly baked bread note, working nicely alongside a spiced pear and oak. Has just a bit of a floral, perfume-like aspect as it warms. On the tongue, the spices evoke a hint of gingerbread, and a light cherry. Slightly sweet with a subtle alcohol that is tinged with honey. Gets a little heavy toward the finish, but that's not completely unexpected given the tripel base. Couldn't do more than one of these, but it's certainly an enjoyable change of pace.
