Year of New Beer: Halia, Goose Island Beer Co. (Chicago)

Whereas most Farmhouse ales lead with at least a cursory note of yeast, this one boasts aromas that are more tart. Lemon and sour peach are most prevalent, with hints of earthy walnut. On the tongue, the sour fruit leads, with a white grape and granny smith apple tartness in abundance. Crisp and dry, this one never takes on the peppery spice that I've come to associate with farmhouse ales/saisons. But that's not a bad thing. This was a very enjoyable beer, and an excellent companion to Easter lunch. Purchased at The Beer Trappe.
