Year of New Beer: Barrel Aged Chernobly 2020: Knob Creek, Mirror Twin Brewing Co (Lexington)

It's hard to go wrong with a beer that punches you in the face with chocolate and bourbon. Rich, dark chocolate leads the way on the nose, but it gets backed up by tons of bourbon, oak, vanilla, and dark fruits. On the tongue, the chocolate does hit first, but it's on equal footing with the caramel sweetness and gentle heat of the bourbon. Charred malts and burnt sugars along with subtle cherries and plums in the middle. Hints of campfire and slightly earthy bitterness to finish. My only issue with previous versions of Chernobly has been an overall lack of body. This one alleviates those complaints as this comes off thicker with much more depth. Can't wait to try the other variants. Well done guys!
