Year of New Beer: Wulver, Thirsty Dog Brewing (OH)

This barrel aged Scotch Ale/Wee Heavy starts off with a bang as the nose crushes you with bourbon. Lesser notes of nuts and smoked wood are present as well. On the tongue is where this beer really shines. Sweet brown sugar, caramel, and vanilla help to keep the bourbon in check, as the heat never rises to an unacceptable level. Raisins and plums play on the taste buds as well, with just a hint of spiciness. Even at 12% ABV, this beer is incredibly smooth, and way too easy drinking.
