Year of New Beer: New Farm Blend #2, Turtleback Ridge Brewery (KY)
Written By: Dion on 10/17/2020
Had my first brews from Turtleback a little over a year ago and was thoroughly impressed. Same result today as I enjoyed this one while walking around the farmer's market in Lexington. A wonderful blend that has spent time in both gin and wine barrels, the nose offers up a bit of a funky, yeasty note, layered over peach skin and light apricot. Farmhouse characteristics are spot-on in the flavor department. Tart peach leads the way, with dry grasses and white grape along the middle. Dusty oak and herbal grasses add complexity to the lingering fruit through the finish. Fruity, spicy, funky...this is an outstanding example of the style.
