Year of New Beer: Black Is Beautiful, Parish Brewing Co (LA)

Very unusual nose to start. Comes off almost a bit sour, but does mellow to a more milky sweet chocolate as the glass warms, with hints of caramel popping up as well. Caramel kind of dominates the tongue, delivering a sweetness that seems to overwhelm the roasty bitterness that I was expecting. Light coffee with cream in the middle, with hints of salted caramel to wrap things up. Pretty good, but I still prefer the Lexington version we had here.
