Year of New Beer: Red for Filth, Rock House Brewing (Lexington)

I'm not normally a fan of red ales, they just aren't my thing. But make one that tastes like pecan pie and bourbon? You've got my attention. Nose features quite a bit of bourbon, but the pie aspects come on with a vengeance as it warms...nutty and slightly sweet. Likewise on the tongue. Bourbon gives a nice caramel layer but isn't too hot. Pecans are even more prevalent here than in the aroma. Earthy, lightly toasted malts make a nice backdrop for a sweet, slightly boozy finish. Good stuff.
