Year of New Beer: Wild Ride, New Belgium Brewing (CO)

A hoppy red ale to celebrate a brewery's 30th Anniversary? Really? Oh well. Hop additions aside, this one still carries a malt-forward aroma, with bread crust, toasted grains, and light tobacco. Do pick up some citrus and herbal notes on the tongue, but once again, it's the malty base that carries it. Slightly spicy grain husk and a light caramel in the middle. Some earthy, herbal hop bite as it warms. Decent beer, just not anything special given the momentous occasion for which it is designated.
