Year of New Beer: Rick and Robbie's Spröcket Bier, Stone Brewing (CA)

An initial aroma of lightly toasted bread is joined by deeply roasted malts and an earthy char as the glass warms. On the tongue, bitter chocolate, rye spice, hints of coffee, and a touch of caramel are the dominant traits. I question this being classified as a Kolsch. Too roasty and spicy to be a Kolsch. Maybe that's why I like it. Purchased at the Beer Trappe.
