Year of New Beer: Cantillon Fou' Foune, Brasserie Cantillon (Belgium)

With my schedule preventing multiple visits during The Trappe's Anniversary, I had to be selective. Glad I picked tonight. The nose is ripe with tart apricot, granny Smith apple skin, and a hint of slightly damp or musty hay. On the tongue, the tartness is more subdued than I was expecting, as the apricot is joined by a kiss of lemon and mineral water. A touch funky with a fleeting berry sweetness mid-palate before drying out thoroughly on the finish. Crisp and clean, no gimmicks required. This is a style that I'm not overly familiar with, but even my limited palate can tell that this is something special.
