Year of New Beer: Luchador en Fuego, Clown Shoes (MA)

Milk chocolate and cream-laden espresso on the nose, with hints of campfire and bourbon soaked oak. On the tongue, the bourbon aging is evident, but is balanced by a certain lactose sweetness. The oak becomes more noticeable as the beer warms, as do the ancho & chipotle peppers used in the brewing process. Working through the bottle, the sweet tinge of the bourbon and chocolate prevent the peppers from taking center stage. Overall, a very nice barrel aged imperial stout.
