Year of New Beer: Barreled Black Gold Porter: Espresso, Country Boy Brewing (Lexington)

Written By: Dion on 02/01/2015

The third and final bottle release of the birthday weekend sees Black Gold married with Espresso Roast from Nate's Coffee, and the influence is unmistakable. Not being a coffee drinker, I'm continually amazed by my love for coffee infused beers. The nose is rich with deep espresso notes thatstrengthen with warmth, joined by lesser chocolate and oak tones. On the tongue, the espresso is again the star, with the roast providing a nice level of bitterness, with minor notes of bourbon, oak, and vanilla. This is a very balanced beer, with no one trait overpowering another, and much like the Mexican Chocolate, incredibly easy drinking considering the alcohol content. The Boys have come a long way in three short years, and these three limited bottles are worthy representations of their brewing prowess. Next weekend is going to be a lot of fun. If you are a fan of craft beer, you owe it to yourself to stop by.
