
Year of New Beer: Golden Angel, Wicked Weed Brewing (Asheville)

Unmistakably apricot on the nose, tart and funky with traces of hay and underlying woody tones. The tongue is loaded with a briefly sweet apricot that quickly goes sour, as well as lesser hints of lemon and peach. The red wine and oak influence is subtle, but definitely there. It has been suggested that this would make a nice brunch beer, and I'd have to agree. My affinity for tart beers is really growing, and I can't wait to see what changes come to this one over time.
