Year of New Beer: Pinedrops IPA, Deschutes Brewery (OR)

Not nearly the evergreen component I was expecting on the nose. Instead, I get more fruit, mango in particular. On the tongue the pine resins come out a bit more, but things are still dominated by fruit bitterness as opposed to pine. Candied apricot and mango are there, along with an unusual, melon like sweetness that for some strange reason reminds me of circus peanuts. Yes, the chewy, faux orange ones your grandmother always had. I had my doubts about this one at the pool on such a warm day, but it was very refreshing.
