Year of New Beer: PseudoSue, Toppling Goliath Brewing (IA)

With an aroma that drips tropical & citrus fruits, it's abundantly clear early on that this is a special beer. Pineapple, mango, apricot, and even some ripe peaches find their way into the nose that is tempered only slightly by a touch of dank, herbal grasses. Not much change on the tongue as the fruits are lightly sweet and sticky, with a building hop bitterness held in check by a solid caramel malt backbone. I'm not quite ready to hand Sue the title of my favorite pale ale, as I'm pretty partial to fresh Zombie Dust, but it's certainly worthy of its reputation.
