Special Release Beer: Tasmanian IPA - Schlafly Brewing (MO)

As the hot, humid days of summer wind down, the beer drinker in me thinks not of cooler temperatures, fall foliage, and Thanksgiving. No, my thoughts meander through Oktoberfests, pumpkin ales, hearty imperial stouts, and Galaxy hops. Wait...what?? Yes, juicy, vibrant, Australian grown, Galaxy hops. Not only does fall mark the arrival of the autumn stalwarts, it also brings the release of one outstanding IPA, Schlafly's Tasmanian IPA, or as they like to call it, TIPA. Its brilliant orange hue teases the eye, but the aroma is where things go next level. Fruits abound. Pineapple, mango, apricot, melons...they're all in there, weaving a delicious tapestry for the olfactory nerve. On the tongue, the Galaxy hops again provide not a bitter bite, but instead a sticky, juicy array of fruit. The elements of the nose transition flawlessly, backed by slightly floral touches and hints of caramel sweetness. This beer is stunningly simple in its build, but wonderfully complex in the end. So feel free to chase the latest seasonal whale. As for me, beginning this week, I'll be slaying Tasmanian IPA for as long as it's available.
