Year of New Beer: Amber Smashed Face, 3 Floyds Brewing (IN)

A full nose features grapefruit and pineapple up front, with warmth bringing a much more herbal, grassy component. On the tongue a light caramel malt stops just short of asserting itself, instead bowing to an onslaught of bitter hop varietals...pine, grass, citrus, melon...a little bit of everything. The bitterness hangs on stubbornly through the finish. In the stable of excellent 3 Floyds beers, this one doesn't get to Permanent Funeral or Dreadnaught level for me, but it's certainly worth trying.
