Year of New Beer: Sherry Barrel Ink, Rhinegeist Brewery (Cincinnati)

Coffee and chocolate blend with boozy dark fruits on the nose, with undertones of woody spice. On the tongue is a terrific layering of fruit elements. A hint of tartness initially before turning sweeter and richer as plums, prunes, and raisins all seem to play a part. The sherry influence is warming, with traces of coffee and slightly bitter chocolate returning as temperature increases. Other than the body being a tad thin (as I thought the regular Ink was as well), this is a really nice beer. Glad to get to share with a few friends.
