Year of New Beer: Willettized Coffee Stout, Lagunitas Brewing (CA)

After inexplicably leaving a bottle of this sitting on the shelf a few weeks back, I was lucky enough to find it on draft today, and I wasn't going to miss twice. Awesome nose that delivers waves of coffee, chocolate, charred oak, leather, and bourbon. These aromas transition beautifully to the tongue, with warmth allowing the coffee to take on notes of caramel and cream. A touch of oak and burnt sugar are joined by a subtle, spicy bourbon kick. Finish leans back toward the chocolate and coffee. Very minor complaint might be that it's a bit thin, but that's negligible. Excellent brew. I still think that Lagunitas delivers the most bang for your buck, providing quality that is both available and affordable.
